When I envisioned growing our company, I hoped that our employees would be close. But I didn’t think about what that meant in terms of space. One refrigerator to hold 58 employees’ lunches. (The other fridge is full of soda pop.) One microwave that quickly has a waiting line starting at 11:30 every day. One large conference room that’s continuously booked months in advance.
Yeah, it’s safe to say we outgrew our current office about a year ago. That happens when you experience double-digit growth two years in a row. When we moved to our office we had so much space we didn’t know what to do with it all. The interns had their own offices. One office just housed a foosball table.
As we grew and hired amazing new people to join our team, offices became shared. We hired more amazing people and up went the cube walls and away went the putting green. But everyone was so excited at the remarkable work we were doing and so busy serving clients there were rarely any complaints about the tight quarters.
Well with this New Year I was able to give our employees the best gift of all – more space! We’ve recently acquired the lower level of our building and there are more offices, more bathrooms, and more kitchen and conference space. IT is busy wiring the new level and employees are anxious to spread their wings.
This also means we’ll be better able to serve our clients, as we now have room to continue to grow and add more of the best and the brightest to our team. And they won’t have to come in early just to find a home in the fridge for their leftovers.
