SEO Webinar Followup Discussion

We had a great Webinar presentation yesterday on organic SEO (Search Engine Optimization), but we ran a little long and didn’t have time to answer several questions that were submitted.  We’re following up with the people who submitted them, but if one person asks a question, odds are good that several others would like to know the answer.

Q: What is considered a good bounce rate perspective and at what point should a bounce rate be a cause for concern?
A good rule of thumb:

  • A bounce rate below 20% is considered excellent
  • 20-30% is pretty typical
  • >30% is cause for greater investigation

Q: How do you find out the Pagerank for your site?

  • Pagerank is assigned page by page, not for sites as a whole.  Google doesn’t share the actual value, but there are some tools that can make educated guesses.  We like http://tools.seobook.com.  Have a look at their Firefox toolbar.

Q: What’s with the beeping?

  • It’s an option on the phone service that we’re using and it was turned on by accident.  My apologies, I know it was annoying.  The good news is that we’re changing the platform for our Webinar events, including a new process for registration and some new toys to add interactivity to our events.  Keep your eyes open for details!
