As we told you last year the organization that oversees internet domain registrations, ICANN, is about to open top level domains (.com, .org, etc.) to almost anything.
Well, nearly a year and a half later, they’re getting close. Baseline magazine has a good piece about the ongoing debates about how to protect organizations’ intellectual property in the process.
Interesting that the blog advises to buy-up related new top level domains but fails to mention the potential costs to an organization (ahem, non-profit healthcare) who may attempt to safe harbour their brand…$185K USD just for the application fee if I am reading correctly! See…
