Targeting the Right Audience with the Right Redesign

When the Methodist College of Nursing (MCON) was awarded accreditation for their baccalaureate nursing program, it was certainly a reason to celebrate. It also provided a great opportunity for them to reach a wider audience and expand their student population. MCON turned to us to help redesign their website and we had a great time collaborating with both Methodist Medical Center of Illinois and the Methodist College of Nursing.

While many different audiences visit the site, MCON wanted to focus on catering to prospective and future students. Since these students tend to be Web savvy and progressive Web users, including edgy design elements that would differentiate MCON was a must.

We created a fresh look for the site that compliments – but is still very different – from the hospital website. We added navigational elements on the right-hand side of the home page and fly-out drop-down navigation on interior pages that are a little edgy and help appeal to the young audience. We also placed calls to action on the homepage that strategically target prospective students visiting the site, such as the prominent “Apply Today” button located over the main navigation for Future Students and the calendar SmartPanel featuring upcoming informational sessions.

The redesign went live on April 29th and the new look gives MCON another reason to celebrate as they reach out to new users and appeals to future students. Congratulations Methodist College of Nursing! We look forward to seeing the success the site will bring to your new, growing student body as a four-year institution.
