Avera knew their employees needed a more centralized location for their internal information, so the organization was proud to unveil its new intranet this month.
Responsive or bust!
In an effort to move fast and efficiently, Geonetric and Avera partnered to create a responsive intranet that provides system-based information to its employees in a more organized and less siloed approach. The responsive intranet gives employees the power to browse the site on the go with mobile devices, like smartphones and tablets.
According to Pew Research’s Internet Project, nearly 60 percent of American adults own a smartphone, and 64 percent use their smartphones to go online. These statistics weren’t easy to ignore for Avera, which has more than 13,000 employees.
It’s all about the employees
The landing page features some great information, smack-dab in the middle, like iInternal eEvents, local weather, and a task-based navigation for easy access. The task navigation menu even features a ticker showing how many patients are being cared for at Avera hospitals that day.
And like most intranets, internal news stories and updates can be found with a recent headlines feature, also on the home page.
Clean, user-friendly navigation
The various third party facility intranets are still readily available, but much of the site is streamlined with easy-to-find information in one place. Avera will be adding those facilities to their primary intranet in the future, and with VitalSite and its great tools there’s plenty of other opportunities for growth as Avera continues to centralize.
There’s a straightforward approach to navigation with this intranet, with links like Web Mail, Online Tools, AveraChart and more. The task-based navigation speaks directly to employee tasks, including cafeteria menus, accessing time cards and others.
So far, the feedback has been extremely positive as Avera’s employees continue getting used to their new internal hub.
